Mornings are for walking and the garden, evenings for the bath and the table at the terraces. Choose a time of day to narrow the list.
Pak Nyoman farms the terraces below the hotel and walks guests through them before the heat. He shows you how the water is shared between the fields, what is growing that month, and the small shrine where farmers leave offerings. You are back for breakfast.
A slow class for all levels on the lower lawn, taught by Kadek from the village. Mats, blocks and water are ready when you arrive. In heavy rain the class moves into the kitchen pavilion.
We grow robusta and a little arabica on the slope behind the family house. In season you pick ripe cherries, then hull, wash and roast a batch over the wood fire in our kitchen. Out of season we start with beans dried earlier in the year.
A steep path leads down through the valley to the river and a spring the village uses for temple ceremonies. You can swim in the pool below the spring when the water is clear. There are about four hundred steps back up.
We fill the outdoor bath in your villa with warm water, frangipani, pandan leaves and lime, light the lamps on the terrace and bring a pot of ginger tea. Then we leave you alone until you call.
A table for two at the bottom of the garden, with candles, a waiter and four courses from our kitchen. Tell us what you do not eat when you book. If it rains, we set the table on your villa terrace instead.
Tell reception the day before, or add it to your enquiry before you arrive. Walks and the terrace dinner depend on the weather. If we cancel, you pay nothing.
