Villa Senja is a small hotel in the hills of Tabanan, west Bali, run by the Wirata family. Villas cost from Rp 3,200,000 a night with breakfast, and the airport is an hour and forty minutes away.

Made Wirata grew up in the house at the top of the garden. In 2014 he and his wife Sari built two villas on the family land above the terraces, and by 2021 there were eight. The rice below is still farmed by Made’s cousins, who share the water with the rest of the village.
We keep the hotel small on purpose. There are never more than eighteen guests, the kitchen cooks for you rather than for a restaurant, and someone from the family is at reception every day.
Every villa has its own pool, an outdoor bath and a terrace. They differ in size, in how many people they sleep and in what you see from the bed.
