About Smart Build
What we do, who it is for and where we are.
What is Smart Build?
Smart Build designs and builds custom websites for small businesses. We are based in Bali, Indonesia, and work with businesses in any country.
Every project starts with questions about how your business works and who your customers are. We recommend a platform, a package and a price only after you confirm we understood. The services page shows 18 example sites.
Who does Smart Build make websites for?
Small businesses that need a website. That includes cafés and restaurants, shops that sell online, studios and clinics that take bookings, plumbers and other trades, hotels and villas, builders and galleries.
If your business is not on that list, tell us about it anyway. The first conversation is about your business and your customers, so it works for any kind of business.
Where is Smart Build based, and do you work with businesses outside Indonesia?
We are based in Bali, Indonesia, and we work with businesses in any country. The whole project runs over WhatsApp and email, so you do not need to meet us in person.
Prices are in US dollars. We reply within one business day, Bali time (UTC+8).
Is Smart Build run by AI?
Partly. An AI assistant answers first messages and helps with writing, design and building, and it says that it is an AI when it writes to you.
A person reviews every proposal, every invoice and every reply that names a price or a date before it is sent.
How is Smart Build different from Wix or Squarespace?
With a website builder you choose a template and build the site yourself. With Smart Build we design the site for your business, write the pages from what you tell us, and build it on WordPress, Strapi or Shopify. At launch you get the design files, the code, the content and every account.
If your site is on a website builder today, we can move it to a new platform.
Prices and payment
What a website costs and how you pay for it.
How much does a website cost?
Our three packages start at USD 1,500 for Launch, USD 3,500 for Studio and USD 6,000 for Commerce. After we listen to how your business works, you get one fixed price in a written proposal.
Domain, hosting and paid apps are charged at cost or paid by you, and they are listed in the proposal. The services page shows what each package includes.

Any package can add booking and ordering, more languages and monthly care. Each add-on is quoted in the proposal.
Is the price fixed?
Yes. The proposal has one fixed price for the work it describes. Anything outside that work, or beyond your revision rounds, is quoted before we start it, so the price only changes when you agree to it.
How do I pay?
In two payments. The first half is invoiced when you accept the proposal, and the timeline counts from the day it is paid. The second half is due before the site goes live.
Are the domain and hosting included in the price?
No. The domain, hosting and any paid apps are charged at cost or paid by you directly. They are listed in the proposal with their prices, so you know the full cost before the project starts.
Can I get a quote before we talk?
The starting prices are on the services page. Your fixed price comes after a short conversation, because the right package depends on how your business works and what your customers need.
Our first reply is questions. The proposal follows once you confirm our summary of what we heard.
How a project works
From your first message to a live site.
What happens after I send a message?
- We reply within one business day. The first reply is questions about your business and your customers.
- We write back a short summary of what we heard, and you correct anything we got wrong.
- You get a proposal with our recommendation, a fixed price and the deposit invoice.
- We design and build the site, with the revision rounds written into the proposal.
- The site goes live and we hand over the design files, the code, the content and every account.
How long does it take to build a website?
About 2 weeks for Launch, about 3 weeks for Studio and about 5 weeks for Commerce. The timeline counts from the day the deposit is paid.
It also depends on getting your photos and text on time. If something is missing, we ask for it every two business days.
What do I need to give you?
Your logo, your brand colours if you have them, the text and the photos. If any of these are missing, tell us and we agree how to produce them.
Can you write the text for my website?
Yes. We write the pages from what you tell us in the first conversations, so the site sounds like your business. You read every page and correct anything before it goes live.
Do I see a design before you build the site?
Yes. You get a first preview to react to before the full build. For a Launch site it shows every page laid out with real wording. For Studio it shows the design system and how you edit a page, and for Commerce it shows a product page, the checkout and where your orders arrive.
The services page has an example preview for each package.
How many revision rounds do I get?
Launch includes 2 revision rounds. Studio and Commerce include 3. Changes after the last round are quoted in advance.
How do we keep in touch during the project?
On WhatsApp or by email, whichever you prefer. We reply within one business day, Bali time (UTC+8), and you always know which step the project is in and what happens next.
Platforms and features
What we build on and what your site can do.
Which platform will my website be built on?
We choose it after we understand your business. Most projects run on WordPress, Strapi or Shopify. Launch sites are built on WordPress, Studio sites on Strapi or WordPress, and Commerce shops on Shopify. We use other platforms when they suit the work better.
Can I update the website myself?
On a Studio site you change pages, photos and blog posts yourself. On a Commerce shop you manage products, stock and orders in Shopify. On a Launch site we make the changes for you, quoted each time or covered by monthly care.
Can you build an online shop?
Yes. The Commerce package is a Shopify shop with a custom theme, up to 50 products, checkout, shipping and tax set up, and tracking pixels installed. It starts at USD 6,000 and takes about 5 weeks.
The services page shows six example shops.
Can customers book or order online?
Yes. Booking and online ordering is an add-on for any package. Customers book or order on your site without calling you. It is quoted in the proposal.
Can my website be in more than one language?
Yes. We can build your site in more than one language. Each extra language is quoted in the proposal.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes. We start with the same questions about your business and your customers, then design the new site and move over the content you want to keep. The redesign is quoted in the proposal.
Can you move my site from Wix or Squarespace to WordPress or Shopify?
Yes. We move your pages, text and images to the new platform and set up the new site in your name. The move is quoted in the proposal, and you own every account at the end.
Do you set up hosting and the domain?
Yes. We set up hosting in your name and connect your domain. Hosting is billed at cost and listed in the proposal.
Search, AI assistants and ads
How people find your site once it is live.
Will my website show up on Google?
We build every site so search engines can read it. Launch includes basic SEO, and Studio includes SEO and analytics so you can see where visitors come from.
We cannot promise a position in Google results, because that depends on your market, your content and the other sites in your area.
Will ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI assistants be able to read my website?
We build every site so AI assistants can read it. With the Search and AI readiness add-on, we measure your site with Cloudflare's Agent Readiness score before and after the work, and share both results with you.
What are AEO and GEO?
AEO, answer engine optimisation, is preparing a site so search features and voice assistants can quote it as a direct answer. GEO, generative engine optimisation, is the same work for AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, which write answers from several sources.
Both depend on clear facts, plain answers to real questions and pages that machines can read. Every site we build is set up for both.
Will a new website bring me more sales?
We cannot promise more sales, because results depend on your market, your content and your budget. Before we recommend anything, we ask what a good month looks like for you, and the site is planned around that.
Do you run Google and Meta ads?
Yes, once your site is live and turning visitors into enquiries or orders. We run Google ads, Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram, and social content made to match your site. Each service is quoted in the proposal.
After launch
Ownership, changes and help later on.
Who owns the website?
You do. At launch we hand over the design files, the code, the content and every account.
What if I need changes after launch?
Changes outside your revision rounds are quoted in advance. You can also add monthly care to any project, which covers ongoing changes and upkeep.
Can I move my site to another developer later?
Yes. You own the files, the code, the content and every account, so another developer can take over at any time.
No question matches that search.
